چکیده

The Balancing Domain Decomposition algorithm uses in each iteration solution of local problems on the subdomains coupled with a coarse problem that is used to propagate the error globally and to guarantee that the possibly singular local problems are consistent. The abstract theory introduced recently by the first-named author is used to develop condition number bounds for conforming linear elements in two and three dimensions. The bounds are independent of arbitrary coefficient jumps between subdomains and of the number of subdomains, and grow only as the squared logarithm of the mesh size h. Computational experiments for twoand three-dimensional problems confirm the theory.

Domain Decomposition Methods for Raviart - Thomas Vector Fields TR 2011 - 942

Raviart-Thomas finite elements are very useful for problems posed in H(div) since they are H(div)-conforming. We introduce two domain decomposition methods for solving vector field problems posed in H(div) discretized by RaviartThomas finite elements. A two-level overlapping Schwarz method is developed. The coarse part of the preconditioner is based on energy-minimizing extensions and the local...

BDDC methods for discontinuous Galerkin discretization of elliptic problems

A discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discretization of Dirichlet problem for second-order elliptic equations with discontinuous coefficients in 2-D is considered. For this discretization, balancing domain decomposition with constraints (BDDC) algorithms are designed and analyzed as an additive Schwarz method (ASM). The coarse and local problems are defined using special partitions of unity and edge co...

Domain decomposition preconditioning for elliptic problems with jumps in coefficients

In this paper, we propose an effective iterative preconditioning method to solve elliptic problems with jumps in coefficients. The algorithm is based on the additive Schwarz method (ASM). First, we consider a domain decomposition method without ‘cross points’ on interfaces between subdomains and the second is the ‘cross points’ case. In both cases the main computational cost is an implementatio...

Grid transfer operators for highly variable coefficient problems in two-level non-overlapping domain decomposition methods

We propose a robust interpolation scheme for non-overlapping two-level domain decomposition methods applied to two-dimensional elliptic problems with discontinuous coefficients. This interpolation is used to design a preconditioner closely related to the BPS scheme proposed in [1]. Through numerical experiments, we show on structured and unstructured finite element problems that the new precond...
